Scaling: it’s a tough part of business. Predicting supply and growing demand at the same rate is one of the biggest challenges most businesses face. And it’s especially hard when excess inventory starts disappearing.
In regards to Bungii, you’re the demand and our drivers are the supply. The last thing we want is Bungii to be another onerous job for our drivers, so we give them the freedom to work when they want by logging into the Bungii Driver app. This makes them available to answer your requests. However, if a driver is logged into the app for a few hours and doesn’t receive any requests, chances are he won’t be too happy and he may end up deleting the app. In terms of supply, Bungii’s “inventory” starts disappearing fast.
Conversely, if you need help moving something but there’s no drivers available, chances are you won’t be too happy either.
And that’s the tough part. It’s finding the balance between getting your requests answered and making sure our “inventory” isn’t idle. In a perfect world, there would be a magic formula to know exactly how many drivers we need and when we need them but of course that’s not the case.
Thankfully, we’ve been doing this for awhile now so we’re becoming increasingly better at predicting when and where drivers are needed. So what’s the secret receipt for balancing supply and demand? Well, that’s for us to perfect and you to enjoy.
